Yes, Google has confirmed this in their blog post today (link is given at the bottom). The new Android will be called MARSHMALLOW. This announcement Google made while publishing the final build of Android M Developer Preview (Learn how to get it - Get Developer Preview).
Also, along with releasing the name of the next Android, Google has confirmed the version number for this one, the new Android will be versioned 6.0, putting a period over all the rumors of it being an extended version of the Lollipop. Though this has come as a surprise considering the new version is much similar to its predecessor (Android Lollipop - 5.0).

Get the Update
If you own a Nexus device and you are enthusiast enough to test the final update of the Developer's Preview:, the steps are simple and will be familiar to those who would have done this before.
If you are a developer, then follow instructions given in the above link.
This final version of Developers' Preview is available for, as always, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 & Nexus Player. If you are own one of these devices then you could get the update. To update your Nexus device there are two ways. One is via OTA (Over-The-Air), Google will send OTA update to Nexus devices in couple days, but it will take time, and you will need to be connected to the internet to get it quickly. The other ways is by downloading this update from developer preview site, download the system images from developer preview site as per your device model. Flash the images into your device and you are good to go.
Note: This update is near to the final version but is not 'the final' product and could, mostly it would, change before its final launch. After its final launch you will have to revert back to the factory-image manually to get the final updates via OTA.

What's New in Marshmallow?
The new addition to the Android ecosystem adds up a few features, among which Fingerprint Scanner & App Permissions.
Fingerprint scanner is a one promising feature from Google since Apple include its Touch ID last year. Samsung also have included a fingerprint scanner in its flagship devices like Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6+ & also Galaxy Note 5, which launched last week. Along with Samsung, OnePlus also included a fingerprint scanner in its flagship - OnePlusTwo. Therefore we could see some solid work done in this area in upcoming months. Don't forget the next Nexus will sport a fingerprint scanner, as Nexus devices include everything there is to in an Android.
The other important feature in the new version of Android is App Permissions. Admit it you all have been waiting for this feature from years. For those what it does is, it allows you to control all the apps you have installed. Remember when you are chatting on WhatsApp and mistakenly clicks that mic button on the right bottom of the screen, it used to record a quick audio and used to send to the other party without your consent. How irksome it was! Well, now you could control it with the help of App Permissions, you could do much more than just this with the help of this new feature.
There is one more feature which is been talk of the town, Android Town to be honest, and the feature is Doze - Power Saving Mode. No one likes to run out juice on their phones, right! But according to the Google, they have come up with a system that will help improve battery life of a device by putting into sleep mode. It will use motion sensors to detect any movements, if your device is been stable for a certain amount of time, then Android will automatically kill all the apps and process that are running in the background, drinking up all the juice of your device.
